A Happy Jack perched above my head. These birds are extremely protective of their nests and their young. Perceived threats are always promptly driven off by a jolly good peck on the head. This ones deciding how long my presence will be tolerated. :)

On the Plains the sun disappears within minutes so the time frame to capture a photo is very short. One has to be prepared with camera in hand to get the very best shots. Last night there was a band of dust and cloud along the far horizon. The sun looked like a blood soaked halo enshrouded  by heavenly scarlet sheets.

A butterfly caught in a spiders web.
The beautiful wings that had carried it so freely
now a too heavy burden
to escape its certain demise.

Topnotch Pigeon

This little lady has nested about 4 foot off the ground in one of our front yard trees. She is sitting on two eggs at the moment. I’ll keep you posted on any new arrival. 🙂

This is my pet Galah – Bundy.
He is an absolute clown. He talks and has a rather wide vocabulary. “Mummy’s Bird” being his favourite. As you can see he also dances. He does a very good copy of a rabbit hop and loves to hang upside down by one foot and call the kids names as though he needs to be rescued…ha ha. Lately he has devised a new trick. He lies on his back and holds a chalk perch (helps him with his toes nails) in his feet and uses it like a bar bell. He also does crunches taking turns to hold it in one foot at a time. Got to give a guy credit for looking after his figure lol 🙂

Some of the local crew enjoying their evening chit chat.
Moments before they were all playing in the lawn sprinkler which is so funny to watch. Unfortunately they are camera shy when in the shower and skip off as soon as they see the camera making it hard to get photos. However, I intend to persist with it as some of their antics are hilarious.

The western sky
Stretches
Beyond the eye
As spendor baths
In golden rays.
A mantle of elation
A celebration
Completion
Of another day.

One of the many Lorikeets that have claimed our garden. Moments earlier it was playing and enjoying an evening shower in the lawn sprinkler along with its colourful mates and the Magpies and Happy Jacks
